David, King, and Hopp lead the way

Steve David made it 2 for 2 as he captured Heat 2-A in the O BOY! OBERTO. Jimmy King made it close, finishing second by about a roostertail in MISS CHRYSLER JEEP, and Mike Allen was third in FORMULABOATS.COM II. MISS AHERN RENTALS did not start and subsequently withdrew due to an assortment of mechanical troubles.

Heat 2-B shaped up to be a scorcher, as MISS BEACON PLUMBING drew MISS ELAM PLUS and SPIRIT OF DETROIT. Theoret took the inside lane again at the start, with Villwock in lane two and Kelly on the outside. BEACON grabbed the lead at the exit of corner two with ELAM giving chase, but it turned out that Theoret had jumped the gun. Villwock, once made aware of the infraction, backed off and coasted to an easy win in the ELAM PLUS. Kelly took second in SPIRIT OF DETROIT, and an unhappy Theoret finished third in BEACON PLUMBING.

Problems plagued Heat 2-C prior to the start. The U-5 FORMULABOATS.COM never left the dock, and confusion ensued when Dr. Ken never got on plane before the one minute gun fired, leaving Greg Hopp to collect an easy heat win. SUPERIOR eventually fired and ran the three laps, but more confusion as race officials said "no" to Muscatel being a legal runner but the white flag and eventually the checkered flag were displayed. Then you throw in an N2 violation to SUPERIOR from the first heat, but apparently still getting the points. Note that the U-5 FORMULABOATS.COM also got tagged for an N2 but lost their points, so who knows WHAT's going on. The consistency, or perhaps a lack of consistency of enforcing the rules, was addressed in a drivers meeting on Saturday. If SUPERIOR bumps someone else in the final because of this discrepancy, you know someone will be a bit hacked off, so we shall see what we shall see
.
